Cooper-Foreman Heirloom Gardens is supported by Volunteers. In 1998 when Carolyn Walden conceived of an heirloom garden, she called upon people in the community of Wyandotte County to share her vision of an exemplary plot to showcase the plants that were important to local settlers. People gathered to create such a visual and have continued its maintenance weekly to the present day. A Volunteers Courtyard lies in the center of the Settlers Garden with bricks marked by their names.
New Volunteers
New volunteers are welcome aboard at anytime throughout the year. In the current year, we are encouraging groups such as civic organizations, professional/business groups, and churches to adopt a garden to tend and call their own. A plaque with their name is placed in their garden space. Welcome aboard!

Individuals are always very important to the functioning of the garden. Plants love sun, water and volunteers.
